One of the seven wonders of the natural world, the Great Barrier Reef is one of Australia’s largest tourist attractions. Composed of over 2,900 individual reefs, it stretches over 2,600 kilometers and totals about 344,400 square kilometers. The Great Barrier Reef is home to a large number of whales, dolphins, porpoises and turtles. The most popular way to visit the reef is by scuba diving as it provides the best views, but if being under water isn’t your thing, there are boat and helicopter tours as well.
