Lonely Planet Contest Official Rules and Regulations (the “Contest Rules”)

1. The Travel and Escape Lonely Planet Contest (the “Contest”) starts at 01:00 am ET on Oct 16, 2012 and continues until 11:59 pm on Oct 17, 2012 (the “Contest Closing Date”).

2. The Contest is administered by Blue Ant Media Partnership (“Blue Ant”).

3. This Contest is open to individual legal residents of Canada who are of the age of majority in their province or territory, except (a) employees of Sponsors, Blue Ant, and/or their parent and affiliated companies, representatives, dealers and agents, (b) Contest prize suppliers and judges and (c) those with whom any persons falling within categories (a) to (c) above are domiciled. In order to be eligible to win any prize, entrants must comply with these Contest Rules.

4. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations; and it is void where prohibited by law.

5. No purchase necessary.

6. TO QUALIFY FOR YOUR CHANCE TO WIN, YOU MUST:

• ‘Follow’ us on Twitter
• ‘Like’ the Travel+Escape Facebook page
• Successfully answer the question: “WHAT ISLAND DID BEN ATTEMPT TO INVADE AND RENAME AS BENLAND?” on T+E’s TWITTER page using the hashtag #YearofAdventures
• Hints to the answer are available at one of the links available HERE

This will make you eligible to be entered into a random draw for a chance to win a $500CDN cash prize. To be eligible for the draw (see Rule 7 below), your hashtag answer must be Tweeted between Oct 16 and Oct 18. Entry/Entries must be received by no later than 11:59:59 pm (ET) on the day immediately preceding the Draw Date for the applicable draw date.

The Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook or Twitter. Facebook and Twitter are completely released of all liability by each entrant for this contest. Any questions, comments or complaints regarding this contest must be directed to the Sponsors and not Facebook or Twitter.

7. DRAW: DETERMINATION OF WINNERS

Draw Date:

On Oct 18, 2012, at or about 12:00pm (ET), a random draw will be conducted at the offices of Blue Ant, at 130 Merton Street, Toronto, ON M4S 1A4 to select one (1) eligible Entry as a potential winning entry for the prize corresponding to the applicable Draw Date.

Blue Ant (or its delegates representatives) will make three (3) attempts to notify the selected entrant by contacting his/her via email within two (2) days of the respective Draw Date. If a selected entrant is not reached within three (3) attempts, then he or she shall be disqualified and forfeits the corresponding prize and another eligible entrant may, at the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsors and Blue Ant, be randomly selected as the potential prize winning entrant, whom the Sponsors and Blue Ant(or their representatives) will attempt to contact, and who shall be subject to disqualification, in the same manner, with timing being calculated from the new draw date.

8. PRIZING:

There is one (1) prize available to be won. The prize consists of a $500 CDN. Approximate retail value of the prize: CAD$5,000

9. By entering this Contest, the entrants agree to and do:

(a) release and hold harmless Blue Ant, other prize suppliers, their advertising and promotional agencies and the contest judge(s), and their respective affiliates and directors, officers, owners, partners, employees, agents, dealers, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively the “Releasees”) from and against any and all manner of action, causes of action, suits, debts, covenants, contracts, claims and demands, including legal fees and expenses, whatsoever, including but not limited to, claims based on negligence, breach of contract and fundamental breach and liability for physical injury, personal injury, death, or property damage which the entrants or his/her administrators, heirs, successors or assigns might have or could have, by reason of or arising out of an entrant’s participation in the Contest and/or in connection with the awarding, use and/or misuse by an entrant of the prize or any portion thereof. Before being declared a winner, entrants may be required to sign and return, within a stipulated period of time, a Declaration of Compliance with the Contest Rules and a full Liability and Publicity Release (the “Release Form”) in the form provided by Blue Ant. Trip winner’s guest must also sign and return a Release Form prior to being ticketed or within such other period as Blue Ant may specify, and must comply with these Contest Rules. Trip winner’s guest cannot be changed after the Release Form is received. By accepting a prize, winner and guest consent to the use of their name, place of residence, voice, statements, photographs or other likenesses for publicity, advertising or informational purposes by Blue Ant relating to this Contest in any medium or format without further compensation or notice, and release the Releasees from any claims in that regard;

10. Only the entrant selected as a potential winner will be contacted. The name of the winner will be posted on Travel+Escape’s Facebook and Twitter contest page after the winner has been confirmed.

11. All entries that are incomplete, illegible, damaged, irregular, have been submitted through illicit means, or do not conform to or satisfy any condition of these Contest rules may be disqualified by the Sponsors and/or Blue Ant. Blue Ant takes no responsibility for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, misdirected, late or destroyed entries, or for typographical or other production errors. Blue Ant is not responsible for any errors or omissions in printing or advertising the Contest. All entries become the property of the Blue Ant and will not be returned. Proof of submitting and entry will not be deemed to be proof of receipt.

12. By entering this Contest, you consent and agree to Blue Ant’s collection, use and disclosure of your personal information provided for the purpose of administering this Contest, disclosing the list of winner(s), and awarding the prize. Blue Ant is not authorized to use your personal information in any other way, and such use of information is subject to applicable Canadian Federal and Provincial privacy legislation.

13. The Contest will be run in accordance with the terms, conditions and rules herein set out; provided Blue Ant reserve the right to modify, same, at any time or times, in their sole and unfettered discretion. Contestants must comply with these Contest Rules, and will be deemed to have received and understood the Contest Rules by participating in the Contest. The terms of the Contest, as set out in these Contest Rules, are within the sole and unfettered discretion of Blue Ant and are not negotiable. All decisions of Blue Ant with respect to all aspects of the Contest are final and binding on all parties.

14. Blue Ant assumes no responsibility for failure of the internet or the website during the promotional period, for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the promotion. Blue Ant reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to modify, cancel or suspend the Contest or any portion thereof for any reason, without prior notice or obligation, including but not limited to the email portion of this contest should a virus, bug or other cause beyond their reasonable control be a concern for the security or proper administration of the contest. Any attempt to deliberately damage any web site or to undermine the legitimate operation of this promotion is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, Blue Ant reserve the right to report the attempt to the applicable authorities and to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law.

15. If the identity of any entrant is disputed, the authorized account holder of the e-mail address or Facebook account submitted at the time of entry will be deemed to be the entrant. The individual assigned to the e-mail address for the domain or the Facebook account associated with the submitted entry is considered the authorized account holder. A selected entrant may be required to provide proof that he/she is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address or Facebook account associated with the selected entry. All entries must be submitted from a valid e-mail account that may be identified by reverse domain name search, or through a valid Facebook account. The sole determinant of time for the purposes of receipt of a valid entry in this contest will be the applicable contest server machine(s).
